Keeping New Year's Resolutions
I am big on setting new years resolutions mainly because I am big on personal development and I always view the New Year as a fresh start. Resolutions are intentions that we wish to manifest. Unfortunately, according to a survey conducted by the University of Washington only 63% of people will have kept their #1 resolution after 2 months. Why is it so hard to keep a resolution?
Resolutions are typically habit changes, and habits are rooted in the
subconscious mind
We do things the same way for so long that we are conditioned to repeat those actions automatically. To successfully keep your new years resolutions, you need to change the beliefs and feelings that the habit was rooted in. Affirmations can be key in really, truly manifesting your resolutions.
When repeated frequently, affirmations serve 3 purposes:
It is important to keep your resolutions because you are exercising your conscious free will. You do not have to be a slave to the habits of your subconscious. You can live by making and keeping conscious decisions. It will do wonders for your self esteem that you kept a promise to yourself. The more often you make the choice to follow-through on your resolutions, the stronger you will become at achieving your goals at any time of the year.
Write them down, post them on your wall and make 2010 the year that you revolutionized your life!
